Revealing the Heart

Poem I

Fading Away

Wandering, wondering souls

Searching for a lost loved one,

Remembering times past

That only they can recall.

Soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines

All answered the call,

Bravely, faithfully, honorably

For a country they loved.

Now they battle one last time

A stalking and demented foe,

A fight to the end

With no hope for victory here.

By their side in this struggle

Are angels of both gender

Who continually render

Care, compassion, and love.

We will never truly know

How bravely they contend,

What they feel in the heart

When the foe briefly departs.

Those of us who love

These fighting men of old,

Thank God for the angels

He has placed in their midst.
